Invisible illness is real, be kind, please. OP is trying to feel less conspicuous, not aiming for pity or gawking, according to the post. The frustration expressed in the post towards well meaning people who crossed the well defined boundaries indicated by the vest is understandable, and the brain injury could conceivably makes it harder to contend with that frustration.
Yep, you're the jerk. I get the protectiveness, but you're being too hard on the kid in this case. Your brother was in a no-win situation and did the best he could. Please learn to forgive. It's vital to bringing up healthy children.
