I also would've been very irritated at a server who acted like this. The server did not act appropriately, and I can't blame OP for being upset or even asking for a different server. However, this sounds far too dramatic for this situation. OP said he didn't scream but that he was loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear (and then later yelled at the server to "get lost" when he came back over). He also admits that he made a big scene. And OP's reasoning for this reaction was that he wouldn't have enjoyed himself otherwise? Well ... he likely made the rest of the diners feel awkward and uncomfortable by making a scene like that. That was totally unnecessary, and this could have been handled much better.
So ... OP is just trolling us, right? Please say yes. Because I'd really hate to believe this is real.
I mean ... the fact that OP described their job as being in the "hot 'n' attractive" sector and then said their SO wouldn't make it in that business kind of speaks volumes about their opinion of her. There's no doubt the poor girl also picked up on that -- it's pretty overt -- and now she likely feels unattractive and undesirable.
I am legitimately sad for her.
