NTJ. You saved up for the car, you are paying your own insurance and presumably your own gas. You made a reasonable arrangement to make sure your parents got to do their thing while you and your bro where able to do your activities. If your parents wanted someone to support your brother, they should have watched the movie on a different night.

My parents where the opposite. I’d tell them where I was going in the morning and around what time I’d get home and message if plans changed. The exception was long distance trips.
NTJ. I didn’t see any other comments mention it, but allergies are also a concern. She had no way of knowing if you or anyone in your family was allergic to dogs. Even if you and your wife weren’t, your child is young enough, you might not know all of their allergies yet. Plus, assuming you have family visit, someone who visits consistently could be allergic.
