I was like that too. I am sensitive to texture, but even more to taste- I'm a super-taster, a lot of things taste different to me, like black pepper tasting sickly-sweet, cumin tasting like vomit, and oregano being super bitter. As a kid a lot of the foods people tried to serve had terrible seasoning blends, overcooked noodles, etc. So as a kid my parents would cook Hamburger Helper, one of the foods like that, and tell me I couldn't leave the table until I ate it. I'd just sit there until I fell asleep. I'd wake up in a dark room with them having left, and go to my room to finish sleeping. At daycare I'd just sit there. One place the woman working there actually punished me by putting me in a playpen for the afternoon. (I was only there for two days, I'd been kicked out of my normal daycare for two days for swearing at them after an employee had dropped me on my head on one of those chunky asphalt surfaces. (Not the smooth stuff that melts a bit in the summer.) I have no idea what she served, if I ate it or not, and what she did as a result on the first day because I have no memory of that day at all due to the head trauma. But I'm guessing I probably didn't eat it and ended up in the playpen.
