I don’t want to say you are a jerk. But… my dad refused to teach me and my siblings how to do an oil change, or brakes, simple things (he was a mechanic) because he loved us having to ask him for help and spend time with him in the shop while he did it. My dad passed a couple years ago at the age of 52. My dad could talk all day long about nothing at all and the jokes. Omg the dad jokes. He was annoying. But jerk do I miss him like crazy. Just some perspective from someone who didn’t appreciate it while they had the time to.
My kid is 20. He shares his location with me for long trips, or when he knows he might party and need a ride. He frequently has to drive 4+ hours from home so it worries me. But otherwise he is full grown and deserves his independence.
