I had a job that did that to me. I had to wrie up summaries of medical cases. They were pretty repetitive, so I could usually get the week's worth done and get a jump on the following week's in 3 or 4 days, and I'd spend the rest of the time improving documentation and writing up training documents to help improve the department (something the big boss encouraged me to do). My immediate supervisor decided that because I wasn't posting summaries on some days, I must not be doing anything and she threatened to withhold my pay. She pulled a number from somewhere and told me i average 10 a day, so that's what I had to do. I usually did 15-25 a day and kept us ahead (as I was the only one doing them). Malicious compliance kicked in- I stopped doing the extra work, since she decided I shouldn't get paid for it, and stuck to 10 a day. We started to fall behind and she had to step in to pick up the slack some days. When I gave my two weeks notice, I completed the two weeks worth of summaries in 4 days, and pit my feet up for the rest, ensuring I didn't do a single one that would be due after I left.
