Holy crap! My biodad had children with at least 5 different women, more are suspected. I would NEVER hold that against any of my half-siblings. They are all innocent of any wrongdoing in their birth. Your husband's family are big time jerks - but you are not.
That is not legal here in the US. They must disclose certain information and termites are definitely one of them. She and the seller could be sued if they don't tell you before the purchase. That is a terrible real estate agent, fire her.
I personally don't like forcing a cat to stay inside when they want to go outside. All of my cats were rescues (not from an agency) and had been outside before I got them - so I continued to let them outside. I don't think it's negligent to let cats outside.
That being said...when you adopt a cat and sign a contract that states you will be keeping them inside - you keep them inside! If you break that contract, then the cat gets returned. NTJ
