I personally don’t think you’d be the jerk to keep it. If he wanted his family to have the money he would have changed his will. You said yourself that the two of you never stopped loving each other, so maybe this was his way of letting you that and apologizing for not standing up to his family for you. Since you know how much he loved his niblings, setting up trusts for them would be a nice thing to do. But make sure you set it up in a way that their mother/grandmother can’t access it. You can also have it set up so they get it at a certain age, say 18 or 21. But again, you’re under no obligation to give them anything. I definitely wouldn’t give his sister or mother anything after the way you were treated though. Keep the money!
