When we have people in our lives that we adore, it’s fair to say that we always make room for all of them to live peacefully with one another. And even though sometimes that’s a difficult task, there are a few who manage to pull it off effortlessly by thinking outside of the box; thinking outside of the box is what this young man, Michael, and his wife, did.
You see, these two lovebirds always knew that they wanted to have a spot in their home for a beloved dog as well as a baby. But, with increasing concerns that these two lovely additions may, at first, feel threatened or afraid of one another, Michael decided that it would be the perfect time to create something special for his pup, Molly, a Westie.
Michael spent several weeks planning and executing a dog cave for their friend. Where did they implement it? Under the stairs! Before this, the space was, well, nothing! It was simply a wall.
“Molly, the Westie, found out she was going to be a big sister to a little human, so I decided to build her a room of her own under the stairs before the baby arrived. Nothing existed there before, it was walled-in,” said Michael.
But Michael got to work, created a small space with wallpaper, flooring, a bed, a sofa, and a few other cool details. Michael added, “I wasn’t sure how big the space was, or if it would even be possible, so was very happy with the end result… as was Molly!”
And now, with Michael and his wife’s new addition in their life, everyone is extremely happy, living together as one big family!
“Molly is fantastic with the baby. She is very gentle and doesn’t really bother with her, other than the odd sniff. Catelyn is still only four-months-old, so not yet crawling around; it will be interesting to see once she’s on the move. Her own space definitely helps-she often goes away for some peace and quiet when we have lots of visitors,” exclaimed Michael.
There is no footage of Molly’s room, but a room under the stairs isn’t a new concept for pups! Check out Poncho’s room, one pretty similar to Molly’s, below!
