What’s better than a head to toe makeover? One that’s a total surprise, an ambush makeover! That’s what Kathie Lee and Hoda, the hosts of TODAY’s morning talk show, love to do with their makeover specialists Louis Licari and Lilliana Vazquez — they’re the hair, makeup and style gurus.
Today, Traci from Chicago is celebrating her 50th birthday with her first trip to New York City, and so is Linda from Atascadero, California, who is turning 60 and on a girls’ trip with her daughters. These two lucky ladies are in for a total overhaul!
First up is Traci, mom of four excited to go from her usual everyday appearance to something a little more fabulous. It’s her actual birthday the day of the makeover so it doesn’t get more timely than this. Plus, she’s been watching the TODAY show since she was in the fifth grade, so it’s safe to say she’s a pretty loyal fan. Her daughter says that Traci’s been such a good mom taking care of her kids for years, and today is all about her.
As for Linda, she was just telling her daughter that she needed a new look. So, as a surprise, she took mom on a girls’ trip. Linda is described as the anchor of the family and for her 60th birthday, she figured this was the best way to celebrate! As for her makeover, Linda says she’s up for anything, as long as her natural gray remains the same.
And so, the experts are left to their own devices. The ladies have been whisked away, and now it’s just a matter of time before they come out for the big reveal. By the looks on everyone’s face, it was well worth the trip to the studios and the nail-biting wait!
First up is Traci, and she struts out on stage looking like she owns it. Her hair is given so much warmth and volume, it frames her face perfectly. She’s wearing an elegant, three-quarter length navy blue dress with a lacy, ruffled back and cinched waist that makes her look like she belongs on the front page of a magazine. The moment her daughter lays eyes on her, she’s absolutely thrilled! Even Traci can’t believe what she’s seeing in the mirror!
Then Linda comes out and sends us all for a curveball! Louis stayed true to his word by keeping her hair the way she wanted, but he lightened it up only slightly, to help remove some of the harsh whiteness that was making her look drab. Plus, he snipped off inches, so now her hair hangs asymmetrically around her face. Linda is city chic, rocking a gray blazer with a white blouse and dark denim. Upon the reveal, she’s in tears watching her daughters look at her. It’s a job well done for both women!
