You’re soaking the sun in, digging your feet into the sand and not worrying about anything that’s happening anywhere else. You’re in the moment. You don’t even bother to think of what’s happening back home because you’ve left the house-sitting responsibility on trusted family and friends.
But, what happens when you come back and notice that your window is broken and there is an unwanted guest inside your home? My first thought would be panic! I wouldn’t want to step inside the house without calling the police first. That’s the safest thing to do, right?
One brave couple, the Petersons, came home to a similar scene after their vacation and decided to do some investigating on their own first. The moment they walked in, they were calm and actually had a laugh about the situation because it wasn’t what they were thinking. What they thought was a break-and-enter was really just a turkey lounging around their home — specifically on their comfy sofa.
The couple got to work trying to shoo the wild animal out of the house. It was after they were unsuccessful with their attempts that they had to call 911. Interestingly, the police came and identified the turkey as Tom. But, before the police intervened, they asked Mrs. Peterson what the call was about. Reshareworthy reports Mrs. Peterson said, “I don’t know if I should call you or what, but we just came home from being gone – and a wild turkey flew through our front window and is now in our house.”
A police officer soon arrived at the scene of the “crime” and before doing anything else, asked the couple if he could snap some pictures of the bird. Tom, in turn, loved the photography session and even gave the officer a cutesy smile!
The officer then tried to get Tom out. When his attempts also failed, he called another set of officers who tried shining a light on the bird to show he had overstayed his welcome. This worked! The bird was soon out of the house and all peace was restored. Now, that’s quite a scene to come back to after your vacation, isn’t it?
