Man’s Tiny, 78 Sq Ft NYC Apartment Is The Smallest In The USA And It’s Worth A Tour

Any big cosmopolitan city is sure to have expensive rent. Professionals living in the downtown core know that living expenses come with the territory. If you want the nightlife, and the hustle and bustle of downtown living with its variety of shopping, walkable commuting, and theatre, dining and recreation, then you gotta be willing to cough it up!

From Toronto to London, Dubai to Singapore, and especially New York City. Luke Clark Tyler, a man, living in H****s Kitchen, the lively NYC neighborhood that boasts diverse cuisine and a vibrant nightlife, knows what it’s like to live minimally in a city notorious for cramped living spaces and high rent.

Even with roommates, Tyler found that rent in the neighborhood was very pricey, and felt that he had to scoop up this rare gem when he saw it-a 78 sq ft mini studio for USD 800 a month.

Already quite comfortable living in small spaces, he’s lived in Kenya where he says his home was extremely humble, and his previous NYC apartment was 96 sq ft (quite luxurious by comparison, really). Tyler admits that every inch in his “midtown-mansion” counts, pointing out how critical it is to be efficient. He designed his bed (it cost him $170 from Home Depot) to easily convert into a couch with cushions where he can sit and relax. He’s even designed a modest but hardworking desk that allows him to spend his days working from home, comfortably.

Tyler jokes that since he doesn’t need office clothes, his closet is manageable and affords him other uses, like having a microwave, and storage for cleaning supplies, shoes, and even a few plates. From home, the architect pores over drawings and designs “much bigger spaces,” but he swears he’s happy with his space and even has enough room to entertain family when they visit. it may take a little imagination and a heck of a lot of patience (and bruises from walking around in cramped quarters…) but if this is what it takes, this is what it takes. It really begs the question, do you prefer location or amenities?

Take a look at Tyler’s video to get a better idea of how truly creative and inspiring his positive attitude is and how any space can be turned into a home.
