Teen Picks Heartbreaking Country Song To Perform In Talent Show

Enter Jared Watson whose dream it is to one day make it to Nashville and pursue a career in music. He’s already taken the first big step by signing up for his high school’s talent show and practicing non-stop at home.

Jared has a genetic disease, spinal muscular atrophy, that controls his voluntary muscle movement and affects part of his nervous system. The teen is in a wheelchair and has very limited muscle movement – but potentially has an unlimited voice.

For the talent show, Jared chose to sing a country oldie but goodie – Randy Travis’ “I Told You So” is a song that recounts the heartbreaking tale about two long lost lovers. It was a local hit in Nashville and made famous again by Carrie Underwood in 2007. It’s dramatic. It’s heavy. It’s a crooning tune that can’t be done by just anybody.

With his dad on the guitar right beside him, Jared delivers a deep and passionate performance, wowing the audience. His delivery is smooth and real and filled with maturity. Jared puts himself out there to show the world what he’s got and prove that he’s willing to go for it.

The audience showed their appreciation by giving him a standing ovation. He was even placed in the top three of the show and scored the opportunity to record a demo CD after this video went viral.
