Despite the fact that she was singing at local gatherings and events, Susan didn’t think of ever auditioning for talent shows and being on TV. Although she was trying to make it big in the industry, she assumed she wasn’t fit for TV talent shows and never paid any attention to them.
With that said, did you know that Susan didn’t have any intention of coming on to “Britain’s Got Talent” either? She was happy performing at local events and in the church until her mother convinced her to try to audition for a big show.
Susan had already turned out an auditioning opportunity for the “X Factor” because she felt that only people with good looks got selected. But, there was no way that her mother and coach Fred were going to let her walk away from BGT. Although she didn’t want to audition for the show, saying she’s too old, Susan found herself giving one of her best performances on stage in front of the judges!
Her audition on April 11, 2009, was viewed by over 10 million people, and everyone knew that a star was born. Susan didn’t go on to win the show, she came second to dance troupe Diversity, but her career was launched.
Since then she has released six albums and has awards and significant appearances to her credit. One of her albums titled “The Gift” got her renowned appreciation and she is known for her song, “Wild Horses.” Susan has performed this song multiple times on stage.
She defies the fact that you need to look a certain way to be a successful entertainer. The woman stands for talent, and hard work and her success in a cut-throat industry says it all.
Here’s wishing Susan a very happy birthday! And to celebrate her special day, click below to watch one of everyone’s favorite renditions, sung by none other than the singer herself!
