Shy Singer Impresses Judges With Performance Of Classic Song

Talent is talent, whether one is shy or social. Natural talent chooses us, but it’s up to us whether we show it off to the world or keep it to ourselves. While some people start showcasing their abilities at a very young age (kids start singing as early as the age of 3!), others hold off because they don’t have the courage to stand up and show the world what they’re capable of.

A young woman by the name of Alice Fredenham was blessed with an angelic singing voice anyone would deem flawless. However, Alice was a shy girl with stage fright, let alone a fear to appear on a stage in front of thousands, and worst of all, being televised on national TV. She held herself back from appearing on shows and in front of the public eye for a while.

However, when the singer’s “Britain’s Got Talent” audition inched closer, she, while afraid she would mess up, went along with it. Standing out from other contestants, Alice opted to perform a popular 1937 classic known as “My Funny Valentine” from the musical “Babe in my Arms.”

The timid 28-year-old beauty therapist stepped on stage, admitting to the judges that she was not only scared, but that she intentionally didn’t tell any of her family or friends she’d be performing on the BGT stage, so they wouldn’t know if she failed. Even her body language tells us the intense anxiety she is feeling, making us a little nervous ourselves!

But as the music began, Alice transformed into a completely different person. The longer she sung, the more her nerves died down. She appeared confident and at peace. Right after her performance, she received an easy standing ovation and booming cheers, proving her insecurities wrong!

Everyone in the room was shocked that the shy woman broke out an utterly mesmerizing set of vocals. As the judges gave their feedback, Alice was in tears, and you bet she moved on to the next round!

While the singer’s nervousness was adorable on stage, we know how difficult it can be to pursue something that not only makes you nervous but has you anxious, borderline panicked. This woman is living proof that our anxieties and uncertainties, while at times useful, hold us back in many aspects of our lives. The only way to beat it is to push through it, although easier said than done.
