Humans are visual creatures and the reason why social media is so popular. We are all eager to see who’s wearing what, or what the new kitten looks like or where that person went on vacation. Why go through having to say a thousand words when one picture says it all? Gone are the days of long, handwritten letters and menus with too many words. Show a photo, and that’s pretty much all you need to know!
But, there are sometimes that a photo tells you more than you needed or wanted to know. It was at the High Plains Humane Society in New Mexico where this devastating picture of a poor, sad puppy was taken.
This female shelter dog was snapped while in a cage, leaning against the wall with her ears turned down. It’s hard to hide her sad face that’s staring straight into the camera. And the eye infection she has in her left eye that’s glistening to look like a tear, adds to the apparent misery this doggy is going through. Plus her paw reaching up through the grate is enough to send any animal lover into a bawling, sobbing mess.
The group shared this depressing photo on Facebook where it went viral. Her photo circulated and in only a few hours, calls were coming in nonstop. The shelter couldn’t keep up with the barrage of questions and concerns as the potential amount of forever homes soared, suddenly becoming available! Not long after that photo, a suitable home for her was found, and a new picture was snapped – it’s one of her jumping for joy with her new mom!
This image with the pup and it’s new owner has everyone on the internet happy beyond words! Our hearts are full at the thought the canine no longer has to endure long days and nights inside a cage, waiting to find a forever home. Here’s hoping we see more photos of the dog smiling and happy!
