I find that one of the best ways to get yourself into shape for something, whether it be a 5k run, a trip, even a concert, or in this case a competition, is to buy the ticket and take the ride. Make the commitment ahead of time and then ferociously work towards it in the meantime. It’s the perfect amount of motivation that gives you something to look forward to.
It’s how I get things done! And by the looks of it, how others do too! Just watch this couple light the floor on fire and swing dance their way to 1st place. You can’t get to their level without lots of practice and hard work to reach a shared goal.
Sam West and Ellen Taylor have made it all the way to the Grand Nationals Championship and today, they’re bringing all they’ve got to the floor. Set to the fun and lively “Gonna Move Across The River” by Bill Pinkney & The Drifters, this dancing duo proves that when you work hard towards something, you can really come together to make magic!
These dancing seniors take to the floor as the announcer comments, “Sam and Miss Ellen would like fast blues, please..” They grab hands and the music comes on. All eyes are on them as the audience throws a few cheers and yells. The jazzy piano starts and the couples’ feet get jazzy, too. Their hips sway from side to side and Sam immediately has Ellen twisting and twirling. Keep an eye on their feet and how effortless they make it all look. With such lightness and quick smooth movement of their feet, it appears as though they’re floating and gliding across the floor!
These two are well-rehearsed and slide through their routine flawlessly. They don’t let their age define them, moving with such grace and agility that years spent on this planet isn’t even a consideration. Watch how they bend and kneel, their eyes locked on each other in sync and with full trust! Quite honestly, these two probably do it better than most people half their age. It’s probably their love for dancing that’s kept them looking young and feeling healthy and happy. You can’t deny the energy and youthfulness they bring to their first place routine. It’s such a fun hobby to have and it’s brought them to the championships.
