My cat gets me. She knows when to make her way over and sit on my lap to cheer me up. I know when she wants cuddles or when she wants to be left alone to explore. I can tell she’s hungry before she meows at me and she’s (usually) aware that when I’m working, she’s not allowed to sit on my keyboard, although there are times that I think she thinks it’s still up for debate. My cat doesn’t speak my language but we speak the same language, and it’s obvious. There’s a mutual understanding and a lot of love.
If she went missing, I’d be devastated. I’d be in my car scouring the streets day and night, shouting her name at the top of my lungs until I found her. And, when I find her, I’d be weeping while smothering her much like this boy does.
Rocco Risso, 11-years-old, was devastated when his best friend, a rescue dog Jack, went missing from his family home in his neighborhood just outside of Buenos Aries, Argentina. Jack disappeared eight months ago, nowhere to be found. Heartbroken and sad, Rocco was beside himself without his dog. The family searched and searched but couldn’t locate Jack anywhere. Still, they held on to the hope that somehow the dog would show up.
It was some time before the stray pup was found wandering alone near a gas station when a family friend spotted him, immediately recognizing the dog as Jack. The friend called Rocco’s mom and delivered the good news, but mom didn’t want to share the discovery just yet. She arranged for Jack to be brought home, and decided it was best to surprise her son by letting him see Jack for himself.
The video captures the moment Rocco walks outside to be surprised by seeing his best friend safe and sound, and back home in the front yard. Rocco’s reaction is priceless and genuine, and he wholeheartedly freaks out when he lays eyes on the pup he thought was long gone. Rocco runs to the dog and throws himself on top of him to give him all the built-up love and cuddles! The boy is thrilled to be reunited and immediately weeps and cries and can’t hold himself together. It’s a very happy ending to an open loop!
