If the term “kitchen cabinet gunk” isn’t descriptive enough for you, let me paint you a picture. It’s the goop, grease, grime, and gunk that gets sloshed and stuck in between cracks and crevices, you know like the one between the stove and the counter. It’s the build-up at the back of the corners of the cupboards, the rings of grease on the stove, the hard stuff in the microwave – should I carry on?
As we approach the winter month snd spend more time indoors, why not spend a little time taking care of the small gross stuff that’s accumulated over the year?
I like to do a thorough clean of my kitchen once every season and something that I spend a lot of time on is the kitchen cabinets. I notice that they’re usually filled with gross bits and piece because I’m always opening and closing them while cooking; a lot of food gets stuck in the corners of the cupboards that I can’t reach. So, how to go about cleaning these? Keep reading.
If you’re like me, you’ve probably tried numerous cabinet cleaners to remove the sprinkling of spices, trails of seeds, and other left behind, unloved tidbits of stuff – but to no avail. So, why not try something you can make right at home? The following DIY trick ensures your kitchen is squeaky clean without you having to break the bank. You can find the materials you need to make the solution right at home, so there’s no need for store-bought cleaners anymore.
Here’s what you’ll use to make this cleaner: Cooking oil (whichever one you prefer, or have on hand) and baking soda. Seriously. That’s it! Oh, maybe just bring a bit of elbow grease too!
Mix two parts baking soda with one part of the oil you choose to use. You will mix these two ingredients with a spoon until it becomes a paste. Take the paste and work it onto your cabinets (you should use your fingers for the best results) and you’ll see the gunk and grime fall right off. Finish up the job by running the cabinets over with a sponge soaked in water and soap.
