The Country Music Association Awards (CMAs) have been around since 1967, but CMA Country Christmas has been around only since 2012. CMA Country Christmas is a “music-themed Christmas special” that airs on ABC. A bunch of excellent country artists get together at this event to perform classic (and not so classic) Christmas songs, and just have a good time overall!
This year, the eighth annual event was hosted by one of the biggest stars in the country industry—Reba McEntire. (I mean, she even had her show!) The holiday special took place at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry and saw performances by Alan Jackson, Lady Antebellum, Chris Young, Ms. McEntire herself, and more.
This year, McEntire’s performance with Little Big Town is what stole the show. Little Big Town is an American country music group with four incredibly talented members—Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, and Philip Sweet.
This trending video shows McEntire with the band of four singing a classic Christmas song—Mary Did You Know?—and it’s epic, a beautiful cover.
McEntire starts the song off, capturing you right away. In the second verse, Little Big Town singer Kimberly Schlapman joins Reba, their voices creating sweet melodies!
The song continues, and they all get solos except Karen Fairchild, but she still joins in!
The group eventually starts singing altogether, singing the words in perfect pitch and harmony.
And coming to a full circle, McEntire ends the song perfectly. By the end of it, the audience is on their feet with the impressive performance.
If you want to hear some of the biggest stars’ voices in country music mesh together creating sweetness in your ear, here’s the video! Quick tip: it sounds impossibly better with earphones on!
