You don’t earn the title of “King of Rock ‘N Roll” without having produced some of the best music of all time, and I think it’s safe to say, Elvis Presley without a doubt, left us some legendary music to hold forever. And even though “rock” implies a fast-moving, lively uptempo beat and song, even rock stars like to slow it down once in a while.
For example, “Can’t Help Falling In Love” is one of Elvis’ most emotionally charged songs that we all love. It’s a big one too, tender and slow, and steeped in experience. It takes a lot of heart and soul to bring this song to life, and not just anyone can do it…
But 16-year-old Raffi Arto on The Voice France gives it all he’s got. The stakes are high and he’s pulling out all the stops with this one. Can he do it? Spoiler alert: Yes, he can! This teenager brings it home with the old classic, playing it beautifully on the piano. It’s just him and his playing, amidst a rolling smoke floor and a background that’s a canvas of stars.
From his first notes, you know he’s got this in the bag. He still remains true to his own authentic voice but musters just enough of a hint of Elvis that you instantly fall in love with his version. It’s warm and inviting, and he sings from the heart. He’s only a teen but Rafi manages to draw experience and emotion from somewhere. His voice is pure, and immediately cues goosebumps. Also, notice his hair! It’s amazing. He’s got the style and volume reminiscent of the legend whose shoes he’s doing a pretty good job at filling.
It’s hard to tell that the teen suffers from stage fright, and before this performance, Rafi really had to pull it together before performing in front of millions. He’s been playing the piano and performing since he was a child, but now that he’s on The Voice, it’s a little more nerve-wracking! He’s got judges and a huge audience to impress, and he sails through exceptionally well. There’s no hint of nerves or pressure, as the young man appears fearless and totally in control. He nails the classic pulling, off a performance that’s got all the judges smiling from ear to ear.
