As a basketball player, your skills mean everything. Perfecting that hook shot and smashing that lay-up, knowing how to swiftly pass the ball, and dribble up, down, around and through your legs, sharpening your eye to be able to predict what the next move on the court is – these are all the moves of the game to help you outsmart and outplay your opponent. It really is a delicate dance, except you’ve got teammates instead of partners, and you hold a ball instead of hands and your partner’s body!
While these NBA players know how to rock the court, here in the video, they prove they can dominate the dance floor, too. With a little practice and checking their ego at the door, these guys came together to deliver a really good routine.
Originally drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers, Brandon Davies played for the 2015-2016 season. He was later traded to the Brooklyn Nets, before finally getting signed with a French professional basketball team. Throughout his career, Brandon’s made friends with a lot of his teammates, and for Brandon’s wedding day, they’ve teamed back up to put on a surprise choreographed dance at his wedding reception, in honour of his new wife, Lenzie Davies.
And, it’s hilarious! The guys switched out of their basketball shoes, shorts, and jerseys, and look dapper in khakis and collared shirts. They take formation, and when the music comes on, it’s their time to shine. While Brandon takes the lead on most of the dancing (and pulls off a really good Carleton impression from “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”) the guys have tight moves and big smiles! They chose to do a mashup of a couple of songs, ending with Tom Jones’ classic “It’s Not Unusual,” giving their final pose together as a group. They’re having a great time celebrating their friend’s big day, and it’s something everyone will remember for years to come. The crowd goes wild, and the bride, seen at the end in the bottom right-hand corner, has nothing but love and a big round of applause for her new husband!
It doesn’t seem like she knew what was going on before all of this started, I’m sure this performance came as a sweet surprise!
