I love the heat. You can find me sitting on a patio in the city on a hot summer day at noon on the weekend, sipping a hot coffee. I have a pretty high threshold for warm temperatures. I gravitate towards the desert and turn the shower dial to the hottest setting during winter months, and summer months. I like my soup scalding and feel comfortable living with the windows down instead of the AC turned up.
While I can deal with summer days pretty well, I am still human and will melt if it gets too hot. All the ice cream in the world can’t cool you down when the temperatures soar past what the human body can take. There comes a point when it gets to be too much and all you need to focus on is making sure you’re staying hydrated while trying to breathe without moving a muscle.
The last place on earth I’d want to to be is in a hot parked car with the windows up. It’s an oven. You could probably bake cookies or cook an egg in there if you tried, no joke. No wonder these people were losing their minds when they came across an abandoned car on a stinking hot summer day with two tiny dogs inside. The locked car was discovered at a shopping center in Taylor, Michigan, USA, on a 90+ degree day, and the pair of pups were noticeably hot and uncomfortable.
Security tried to contact the owner of the car but after an hour of no response, angry bystanders decided to take matters into their own hands. The video opens to security standing around, investigating the car then cuts to footage of the stranded doggies inside. A voice says, “Poor babies, hiiiii…” Next, a man with a knife in his hand attempts multiple times to break into the back window behind the driver’s side. He hit the window with all his might, but nothing.
The crowd gets excited when someone shows up with a golf club and runs to the window. He gives it one good hit before it weakens and he’s able to poke it, causing the window to shatter. The siren is blaring but the puppies are immediately scooped out and saved! They’re given water and cuddles, and everyone is happy they’re not baking in the heat anymore. While being warm and enjoying the heat is one thing, being locked in, not free to roam and change it up if you get too hot, is another. Thank goodness these forgotten dogs were seen and someone called for help. After their rescue, they were taken to a local animal shelter, and their owner was arrested for animal abuse.
