We tend to view police officers and security guards as tough, serious, and brave people. While many of them tend to fall under those three categories, sometimes we need a reminder that these folks are people, too. They have thoughts, emotions, and most of all, they want to have fun.
In fact, one cop in Santa Maria, Philippines decided to put on a little show at the mall he works at, and the video footage of his performance is going viral on the Web!
The second the song “Dying Inside to Hold You,” by Timmy Thomas, came on, the mall cop began to bust some sweet moves. He didn’t even miss a beat! There was spinning, sliding, fist pumping, and a plethora of other moves that suited the music so well. Watching him move had me out of breath, but it was all for a very good reason.
Even though it was highly likely that the dance was pre-choreographed, I couldn’t take my eyes off the mall cop. But, I wasn’t the only one — neither could the shoppers. Many even whipped out their phones to record him dancing. Best of all, the man was smiling and clearly enjoying himself through his quick routine.
What I found interesting was that when he first began to dance, he had a tiny group watching him. The people standing around the mall and walking by didn’t seem to be in a rush, but they didn’t seem enthusiastic either. But toward the end, the dancing mall cop had an entire audience, and they seemed very intrigued by what he was doing! After his act was over, the dancer bowed and his audience applauded him.
Some may argue that the mall cop, especially in his uniform, should have been on duty. However, being a slow day, the cop had enough time to speed through a three-minute-long dance to entertain those around him. After all, there are times where even the most serious and busiest of jobs can get boring if there isn’t much work to do!
In my opinion, just watching him dance made me want to get up and dance too, but everyone knows I’m too stiff and have two left feet! I feel like this man definitely helped liven up the mall. Sometimes I wish more employees were upbeat and happy to be at work like this guy.
