A lot goes on at a kid’s birthday party. There’s always laughing, and screaming, someone crying or a little one getting messy. Or, all of the above. It’s a party after all! When you have a room filled with riled up children, fuelled on pizza and ice cream with presents and clowns and fun games galore, it’s total sensory overload. There’s no telling what will happen next.
And that’s before the birthday cake even comes out which, in my opinion, is the best part. I still love eating that fluffy vanilla cake slathered with an inch of icing and loaded with multi-colored, edible sparkles.
The cherry on top, however, is the arrangement of glowing, flickering candles. It’s your special moment to tap into your secret desire, to open that little trap door in your heart and find the wish you want to make. Just as you start to visualize it, you hold your breath, you close your eyes and you’re about to blow – when some other kid blows it out for you?!
In this video, the birthday girl’s thunder is shamelessly stolen right in front of her eyes! It’s Macey’s birthday and she’s got a dozen of her closest friends with her on her big day – she’s turning 4. Everyone has been called over for the reveal of one yummy-looking blue and white Frozen cake that’s got all her favorite characters on it — Olaf sits front and center.
Everyone is singing “Happy Birthday” as the kiddies gather around the sweet treat. Macey is first in line, soaking up her birthday cheer. Off to the right, little Logan, a curly-haired blonde boy is last to show up. To make up for lost time, he sneaks in to get up close beside Macey. Before she’s ready to blow out the candle, Logan beats her to the punch! He blows it out, and it takes Macey a moment to register what just happened. The mini-Elsa is in disbelief! She looks at the cake, then to Logan, then to the adult holding the cake, then back to Logan.
Everyone claps and the birthday girl is mad! She folds her arms, and pouts as someone hurriedly tries to reassure her, “Let’s do it again!” Poor muffin, she just had her spotlight taken away from right under her nose! Her reaction is really cute, but I hope she got a second chance to blow out the candles and get her birthday wish.
