I remember skipping rope as a recreational activity when I was younger. When the weather was nice, and we could play outside, I would practice jump rope tricks and double-dutch techniques with my friends on the sidewalk; on rainy days, you’d find me skipping in an empty room somewhere in the house. I loved jumping rope, but never thought to pursue it professionally.
First of all, I didn’t know that that could ever be an option. Secondly, even if I did know, I don’t think my skills would have taken me so far. I was good, but not THAT good. But, Adrienn Bánhegyi, a 33-year-old Hungarian athlete, did pursue jump rope professionally, and we’re so glad that she did. Astonishingly enough, Adrienn has made a career out of her passion for jump rope, and she has so many accomplishments under her belt!
The renowned athlete is a physical education lecturer, personal trainer, a member of the Cirque du Soleil, and also holds two world records. Her resume is impressive, and I’d like to believe that she’s far from finished! But everything that she has accomplished so far is not an easy feat. It took her two world records and 15 years of jump roping to become a member of the famous Cirque du Soleil.
Are you eager to see her skills after having read about everything she’s managed to do over the last 15 years? If so, then you’re in luck because we have a video of her performance that has everyone raving!
In the clip below, Adrienn is performing a solo skipping act in Szombathely, Hungary. You can tell how much she enjoys what she does, and she goes through her routine with so much ease.
It amazes me that sports and recreation have some so far. Maybe 20 years ago, you wouldn’t have heard of the fact that there are jump rope competitions or acts that people can participate in. Now, anything is possible. You can take whichever passion, anything you’re interested in, and pursue it as a career. The best part about this is that you don’t ever have to feel like you’re working again! I’m sure Adrienn knows exactly what I’m talking about!
