Weddings are a special day where a bride and groom not only get a celebration thrown in honor of their love and commitment for one another, but they also have the opportunity to do what they want at their wedding. The couple can decide the theme or color scheme their wedding will have, the attire they will ask their guests to wear, the songs they will choose to play, and the food they will serve at their reception. In the words of Miley Cyrus, “It’s our party, we can do what we want to.”
Although some folks would prefer to go on the traditional wedding route, the beauty of letting everyone make their touches and alterations to their own wedding is that they can personalize their special day based on their wants and needs. We are lucky to live in a world where we can have a ceremony and reception set around our culture, religion, family traditions, individual beliefs, or whatever we wish.
While no two weddings are identical, there are definitely some weddings out there that stand out more than others. The reception at one wedding, show in the video below, was one of those weddings!
In the footage caught by Pinnacle Bridal, the best man was delivering a speech for Michael and Leslie, the newly-wedded couple, when he gets interrupted by one of the groomsmen off in the distance, who’s laughing loudly. The groomsman comes up and stanches the mic: “…you guys are such a perfect couple, and I kissed Michael too…” The audience roars with laughter. We’re always up for a humorous wedding speech!
Just as the speech was going wonderfully, another groomsman interrupts and takes over the microphone to sing something “he wrote” to honor the new husband and wife. The groomsman busts out a few lines from Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud,” certainly not lyrics of his own.
As one might expect, that groomsman gets interrupted by someone as well! The next thing you know, all four men are all arguing over who gets access the microphone to profess their love and respect for the new husband and wife, or better yet, to prove who’s the “better” and more reliable groomsman of the quad!
Suddenly, the commotion stops as their “argument” gets interrupted with, “DJ, drop that beat!” At that point forward, the four groomsmen engage in a hip-hop inspired dance-off starting with the music to “Stand By Me” by Ben E King before transitioning quickly into “Talk Dirty to Me” by Jason Derulo among a series of other jamming hits.
My personal favorite part of the routine? The men dancing and lip-syncing to the 1997 classic, “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” by Backstreet Boys, the song they chose to close off their entertaining performance.
Although the little disagreement between the groomsmen and the best man was obviously fabricated and well-rehearsed, that was a pretty wicked “best man speech” if you ask me!
