There’s so much that goes into planning a wedding. From choosing a venue to picking colors, flowers, food, a cake, and finalizing a million tiny little details, it can be a long, stressful process. It takes so much effort, in fact, that many couples hire a wedding planner to help them through the process.
Weddings can be big or small, formal or casual, but they are all about celebrating the love of the couple. Whether a wedding took two years or two days to plan, it will always be a special day in that couple’s lives, the single event that marked the beginning of their life as a married duo. While some couples have very small weddings or even elope and keep the day between themselves and maybe a few people close to them, many others choose to invite all of their family and friends.
The family is an important part of most weddings. Close family often sits in the very front rows during the ceremony and many family members participate. Fathers walk their daughters down the aisle and parents give the bride away to her new husband. Siblings may be a part of the bridal party and young nieces, nephews, or cousins may be flower girls or ring bearers. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter who fulfills these roles during the ceremony as long as everyone is there to support the happiness of the two people involved.
After the stress of planning the wedding and the emotion of the actual ceremony, everyone is ready to relax and have a bit of fun at the reception. There’s usually food, drinks, and dancing. There are some dancing traditions, like the couple’s first dance, the father-daughter dance, and unfortunately, the chicken dance.
Some families like to step outside of the traditional reception traditions and thanks to them, we get awesome videos like this one of a mother and son performing at his wedding reception. They start their epic routine with what appears to be a traditional waltz, but it doesn’t last long. They bust out impressive moves to “It’s Not Unusual” by Tom Jones, “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars, “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, and “Puttin on the Ritz.” Their high-energy choreography is incredible, and the rest of the guests can’t help but join in on the fun.
