I’d think a toddler’s first song would be something along the lines of “Itsy-Bitsy Spider” or “I’ve Been Working On the Railroad” or “Jack and Jill,” or “Old MacDonald Had A Farm,” – any of these age-old classics meant for kids to learn how to sing! But not this precocious kid. Not sure what my first song was, but I’m pretty sure it was nowhere near this complicated, long or dramatic!
Koen is only 3-years-old but is singing like a classically trained Broadway professional. He may not know every single word, but wow. He is a show stopper with so much star potential; he’s hard not to notice.
I guess it’s never too early to start your musical theatre career. Koen is singing a song from “Les Miserables'” — “Do You Hear The People Sing?” And there are a lot of words. Big words. And it’s not the easiest melody. And he’s super passionate about it. You can hear it in his voice and see it in how he moves his arm.
He starts off with a little clearing of the throat, standing tall on a piano bench. His small, high voice squeaks, and it’s adorable from the get-go. He begins a little shy as he stands there with one hand in his pocket, but within moments, he picks up speed, and he raises his arms and fists and belts out his voice.
Best part? The final note that’s too long for him to hold, so he cuts it short, sneaks in a breath and continues as a pro. Koen delivers a performance worthy of a revolution! Just wow.
