Dog Performs CPR On Officer For Video Demo

As a dog owner, I can attest to the fact that dogs are wonderful pets. It is in their nature to be loyal to their human companions and provide them with unconditional love. It’s easy to understand why dogs have been given the name “man’s best friend.”

For my dogs, their only job in life is being a companion. It’s a good thing, really, because they’re not interested in doing much other than laying around the house, going for fun walks and adventures outside, snuggling and asking for belly rubs, and getting lots of treats. They are about as far from “working dogs” as dogs can get.

That doesn’t mean that they are not wonderful dogs, just that they don’t fulfill any role that a working dog or service dog might. However, if you asked them (and if they could answer), I’m sure that they would tell you that they are very busy and have lots of important jobs to perform. After all, if it wasn’t for them, who would make sure that I didn’t get lazy and sleep past 6:30 AM?

Someone needs to make sure that I get plenty of exercise, so chasing after a deer when we’re out for a walk guarantees that I’ll spend at least an hour searching for them on the farm. Finally, I would never know what time it is unless they insisted on getting fed at exactly 5:30 PM. They really are very busy!

Though my dogs have an impressive workday schedule, I’m always a bit in awe of service dogs and working dogs that perform actual jobs that benefit people and society. A well-trained service dog may help a person with a disability perform tasks they couldn’t do otherwise or provide an alert for a medical condition. Working dogs assist our police force in keeping people safe, sniff out dangerous objects like d***s and bombs, and are an important part of the military.

Poncho is a police dog for the Madrid Police Department and he recently went viral when he showed off his impressive CPR skills. His partner gave a demonstration and when he pretended to faint, Poncho immediately began jumping on his partner’s chest as if he was giving chest compressions and even leaned against him to check for a pulse. I’m not sure that this would actually save a life, but Poncho is a very good boy who tries his best!

To see exactly he goes about doing CPR, watch Poncho in the video below!
