Pentatonix’s Christmas Song With A Twist Is Giving Everyone Chills

Approaching Halloween means it’s basically Christmas too. The minute orange and black are removed off the shelves, it’s time to replace pumpkins with green and red and tinsel! And, let’s not kid ourselves – even a week or two before all hallows eve, you can see storekeepers start to incorporate the next holiday.

Festivus preparations aren’t in full swing, but there’s definitely something in the air. Talk of holiday plans, the booking of tickets to see family, and the hosts on radio stations discussing the music changeover are already starting to come about.

Known for taking pop and Christmas songs and rearranging them to perfection, as if by some form of acapella magic, the well-loved American acapella group, Pentatonix (PTX), likes to transform and revamp the classics to make these familiar songs their own. And this year, they seem to embrace the two popular holidays coming together as one.

To celebrate the mash-up of Halloween and Christmas, PTX, who are no strangers to taking on Christmas, just released their new end-of-the-year single, and it’s pretty on point. While it’s not a carol, it could still be chalked up as a classic. Taken from Tim Burton’s “Nightmare Before Christmas,” the song “Making Christmas” is the tune PTX is bringing to life! Still keeping the song’s original eerieness, the group has incorporated both the spookiness and joy together to create a pretty awesome music video.

It’s a perfect teaser and introduction to the holiday season while not forgetting Halloween. At first, they are all dressed up and looking innocent for Christmas. There’s snow, and Christmas trees and each member of the group has a happy face, singing with joy and glee. But, then the video flips and their outfits become dark and more haunted! The background is lit up with spooky chandeliers and everyone has dark eye makeup and a frightening special effect!

It’s a well-done combination of these two celebrations; they’re rolled into one and pulled off flawlessly. It’s getting everyone excited for the upcoming season, and as per usual, PTX really brings this song home. Their soaring range of voices become the instruments when there are actually zero instruments heard (ok, minus the use of a beat once in a while for added effect, but everything else, pure, unadulterated vocal power!).
