Expressing yourself through singing just feels so good. When I’m stressed out and have too much on my plate, I love to close the door, turn up the music and sing my favourite songs. Even if I’m in the worst mood, I can rely on music and singing to help lift me out of it. And it doesn’t really matter where I am. The shower is the best because of the acoustics (pro-tip!) but I can be walking down the street jamming out or in the car, or grocery shopping! And I’m not even any good! Doesn’t matter what age you are, this creative outlet always helps when you’re feeling down.
And this little girl, Payten Foster, sure knows what I’m talking about. She’s the poster child for what I’m saying. Here she is, totally in her element feeling really good and expressing herself through her favourite song, especially after having gone through a hospital scare.
One week before Payten’s video of her singing solo went viral, this little girl wasn’t doing so well. She was in the hospital with a sickness that prevented her from living her life to the fullest. With some rest and care, Payten was able to make a full recovery, and seven days later, able to get back on her own two feet to sing. And sing she does! In fact, her family says she won’t stop singing Tasha Cobbs’ “Break The Chain” over and over and over again.
But that’s ok because it’s delightful! Payten is a cutie pie with a set of pipes that’s got everyone falling in love with her. And the song? It’s not a simple little ditty. This is a full-on worship song that gives thanks and worships God. Payten sings with all of her mustered strength and passion to really drive home a song that’s steeped with raw emotion and power. She is taken over and shows she’s capable of carrying over the uplifting feeling that comes with the song.
Not only is Payten adorable, she’s a little fighter, a survivor with a lot of life in her and a lot of life yet to live. When she sings, she’s enthusiastic and animated, using her arms and closing her eyes. She even stomps her feet, and lifts her arms, really feeling the song and putting in all of her effort and love to express what she’s feeling. Payten has a new lease on life and she’s loving every second of it. She’s the star of the show in this one, and while the other kids are coming into view, all eyes are on her.
Payten is powerful, and commands your attention. And the best part? Even though we’re all watching, she’s acting like we’re not. She’s feeling it and isn’t afraid to show it!
