People underestimate the power of a small act of kindness. You don’t have to donate $1,000 to a charity, even $5.00 makes a difference. You don’t have to build schools to make the world a better place, you can tutor kids in your local library. If you can do those vast things, you should, because small gestures make a huge difference.
Your act can be simple, it can be an act that hundreds of thousands of others have done, and it’ll still be meaningful. Like the cliché saying goes, “It’s the little things that matter.” On social media, you see a lot of grand things. People are doing huge things that are making all the difference, so that’s why most people don’t even take the time to do something small because they assume it has no meaning.
Only, they do. And, there is video proof below—it’s something to warm your heart just as much as a big act of kindness. In the video down below, a snow plow driver, in Waterbury, Connecticut, caught sight of an elderly woman trying to cross the road by herself. She was pushing something with one arm and using a cane to walk with the other.
There’s snow along the side of the roads, so you can imagine how dangerous this could have been. The elderly woman could have lost her grip and slipped. Luckily, this snow plow driver saw her and didn’t think twice before going up to hold her and help her cross the road.
He held on to the item she was pushing, and he walked her slowly and patiently. The minute-long video is a great reminder of how much good there still is in the world. You see so many bad things happening on the news and on social media, so seeing this makes you open your eyes again.
You remember that bad things aren’t the only thing in the world. There are people helping others cross the street, people holding open doors for others, people smiling back at you when you’re taking a walk. These little things still mean something, and to watch the snow plow driver taking the time to help an elderly woman cross the road is the perfect example.
