When I’m hungry, I’m hungry. In fact, I’m hangry, and everyone better watch out. I become sassy and sneaky, and get irritated easily and might try to steal some of your fries or ask for a bite of pizza! I try to prevent these outbursts by carrying bits of food with me (a protein bar, an apple, a handful of almonds) but sometimes it just comes too hard, too quick, and I can’t predict it!
I think this little girl is just like me, except much braver! While I do get antsy and will easily go on the warpath for a snack, this girl is not only stealthy, she has no problem going after what she wants. Even if it belongs to someone else, like Prince Harry!
Following his two tours in Afghanistan, Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games, the international multi-sporting event where wounded, sick and injured veterans participate in a variety of sports including wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball and rowing indoors. Prince Harry says, “These Games have shone a spotlight on the ‘unconquerable’ character of servicemen and women, their families and the ‘invictus’ spirit. These Games have been about seeing guys sprinting for the finish line and then turning round to clap the last man in. These Games have shown the very best of the human spirit.”
And, this unconquerable spirit is alive and well in even the smallest of humans! It was at the UK vs. Denmark volleyball game where little Emily Henson, 2, got a sudden munchies attack! She’s sitting on her mom’s knee, the wife of Paralympian David Henson, the Prince’s close friend. As Prince Harry engages in deep conversation with the man to the other side, this crafty little girl dives into his popcorn without him knowing! And, she goes back for seconds, and thirds, and fourths, and each time, he has no idea.
Finally, as she goes in again, he happens to turn his head and catch her in the moment, and it’s delightful! She’s totally busted and now she has his full attention. He jokes around with her, makes faces and feeds her some popcorn himself! What a good dad he’s going to be in the near future! Meghan, are you watching this?
