When you’ve been gone so long from family and friends, a warm welcome home reminds you that you’re still one of them and it is just the best feeling ever. It’s like time never passed, and you’re able to pick up where you left off.
It’s heartwarming to notice how this bond with friends and family goes beyond how humans interact with each other. It’s something that’s seen through all different species across the animal kingdom, and every time, it’s just as touching.
In this beautiful video, a rescuer releases Pearce, a one-year-old Vervet monkey who was found injured and brought to the Umsizi Umkomaas Vervet Rescue Centre in South Africa. He underwent three weeks of treatment for an injured leg. When Pearce was all healed up and ready to return to the jungle, we see the tender moment then rescuer lets him go to reunite with his family.
Pearce pops up his little head when his cage is opened, looking back, almost as though he is asking for permission. His squeals are delightful as he jumps up and scales the door to reach the roof where his family eagerly awaits his return. He jumps to latch up to the stucco, but can’t quite make it, as he dangles there for only an instant before a helping hand reaches to rescue him. It’s just the greatest thing to watch!
