Andrea Bocelli’s incredible operatic voice has been a source of joy for many around the world over the years. His longstanding career first kicked off when he sang the duet “Time To Say Goodbye” with English soprano Sarah Brightman and since then, he’s been unstoppable.
Andrea is nothing short of extraordinary, having sung duets with a handful of other talented musicians. He has also appeared in massive international concerts, released one critically acclaimed album after the other, and received countless awards, including “World’s Best Selling Classical Artist.” Even behind the scenes, Andrea is a doting husband and loving father of three.
When Matteo, his middle child, showed a natural inclination and vested interest in music, Andrea supported his son’s dreams, taking him under his wing. He wanted to provide his young son with the guidance and know how to navigate the music industry. Now, they’ve just released their first ever duet, “Fall On Me,” and it’s gorgeous.
The father-son pair is indestructible. As if Andrea’s fan base wasn’t big enough, Matteo is garnering his own loyal following. The handsome and talented 21-year-old is like a younger version of his father. His style and technique are different than Andrea’s. Matteo is more modern and focuses more on English rather than Italian. But, he still is up and coming and following in dad’s footsteps.
In this newly released music video, father and son are singing about their strong bond as parent and child. It’s an emotional rollercoaster, shot in a gritty black and white treatment. They are both seated, back to back on their respective piano, set in a huge, otherwise empty white industrial space. There is a lot of light, and the scene is spliced with images from Matteo’s childhood that includes pictures of him, and of him with Andrea and other family members.
The song is heavy and filled with lots of love as Matteo takes the lead and sings about the love he has for his father. It’s about being a source of guidance and support for each other, “Fall on me/With open arms/Fall on me/ From where you are/Fall on me/With all your light.” The lyrics are simple and heartfelt, and they apply to both father and son, further enhancing their loving, caring relationship in the form of beautiful music.
Andrea takes over and sings his part in Italian with the voice we know and love so much. Towards the end, their voices intertwine, both English and Italian coming together to take the song to the next level. Their duet is touching and moving and already has over 9 million views in less than two weeks of its release!
