Couple Has Parking Lot Wedding And Gets Married During The Pandemic

I feel for the couples who planned to have a wedding this year, only to have to put off their big day due to the current crisis. Not only are large social gatherings discouraged during this time, but many (if not most) venues are shutting down for now, shopping for wedding dresses and other wedding goods is harder with non-essential shops temporarily closed, and wedding guests will be unable to travel from afar due to the halt of many means of public transportation.

Besides the latter points, there are other reasons why it’s not a good time to have a wedding right now. We’re all a little more stressed than usual. Many people are dealing with rough finances due to being temporarily laid off. And, people are being told to keep a distance of six feet away from one another, which is the opposite of what people do at gatherings like weddings.

But if your heart is still completely set on getting married this year, it turns out, you can, even with a pandemic in place. In fact, there are couples out there doing just that. James Rodrigues and his bridge, Francesa Baldissera, from Pitt Meadows in British Columbia, Canada recently got married. And let me tell you, it was a completely unique wedding like no other in history.

Sadly, there were a lot of problems leading up to the eventual wedding. Francesa’s brother was in self-isolation, two bridesmaids wouldn’t be able to make it, and the makeup artist and hairdresser for the bride were no longer able to provide service for her big day. All of their wedding plans seemed to be in shambles.

But the bride and groom were able to find an alternative plan, part of which involved keeping their guest list below 30. In addition, the couple chose to get hitched in the parking lot of the church they planned to be wedded in. Many of the guests chose to watch the entire scene go down from their vehicles, and for those who got out of their cars, they made sure to maintain an appropriate social distance away from one another.

“When you’ve gone through quite a rough week, this is very much a joy for our hearts,” the exhilarated bride said with tears in her eyes. Her husband agreed.

Although it certainly wasn’t the big wedding that they had been planning, it was still an emotional event nonetheless and something everyone who attended will remember. It’s beautiful that people are still able to find safe ways to come together and support one another, no matter how crazy our world gets.
