Once we reach adulthood, we receive free rein in regard to how we choose to physically present ourselves. Parents hate tattoos? Once you hit 18, you can get all the tattoos you desire. Mom never let you wear skirts or dresses above the knee? As an adult, you can!
Kevin Duggan had a similar experience. His mother was never fond of him growing a large beard, although it was what he wanted. So, after his mother kept urging him to get rid of his fluffy, reddish-orange set of f****l hair, he decided he would opt for a clean-shaven look as a special Christmas surprise for her.
Kevin decided to have fun with the process of shaving his prized beard, filming the whole thing. As he was using electric clippers to shave, background music in the video plays of him singing, “Doo doo, doodle loo loo, doo doo…” as an added source of entertainment.
Because his beard is so big, the entire process from start to finish takes quite some time. However, Kevin makes sure to enjoy himself despite how time-consuming it is. He even cuts everything, leaving nothing but a handlebar mustache just so he can play around with it a little! Sorry, buddy, but that wasn’t part of the plan. That mustache has to go too!
Not long later, Kevin continues, shaving off his handlebar ‘stache, slathering up his face with shaving cream, and using a manual stick razor to get a finer, cleaner shave.
Once he’s finished, the once-bearded man looks nothing like himself! I’d say he looks a lot younger.
Kevin then pops into his mother’s kitchen. Shortly after walking in, Kevin turns around and says, “Hey, Mom.” The mother has to stop and stare for a bit to register her “new” son. Finally, Mom puts two and two together.
“Yay!” she exclaims. “It’s you? Is it really you?” She can barely recognize her own offspring!
Regardless of throwing her off, Mom is sure happy to have a son without all that extra hair covering his face, and him doing it just for her makes it that much better.
But unfortunately for her, Kevin decided he was still destined to flaunt his signature, red beard.
“Just fyi, the beard has been growing since I shaved it in the video. It’s bbaaaaackkk,” Kevin says on YouTube.
Sorry, Mom, but hopefully you enjoyed it while it lasted! Kevin worked hard growing out and maintaining his beard, so the fact that he let it go one time for his momma says a lot, but the beard wouldn’t be gone forever.
