Have you ever had an item you considered lucky? I’ve had friends who did, and generally, I liked the idea of lucky items, but I never really believed in the power of luck. But many people are more superstitious than I am and do believe in that power.
I’m sure a South Rockwood, Michigan man named Mark Clark is a believer in lucky items. Why? Because he used his father’s “lucky” coin on a scratch-off last month and won $4 million. Not only that, but this same coin allowed him to win the exact same prize just a year-and-a-half prior! What are the odds of that?
And, yes, Clark credits his two massive wins to that coin.
“I scratched the ticket off in the store…and I can’t help but think maybe that lucky coin helped me win this,” he said.
I may not be such a believer in luck, and maybe you aren’t a believer yourself. However, think about it: he won twice within a relatively short period of time and the same prize, at that. Winning even “just” a million dollars on a scratch-off at any point in your life is rare, but the circumstances Clark encountered are even rarer.
This whole crazy ordeal has Clark bewildered, as he should be.
“You don’t think you’ll win millions once—and you definitely never think it would happen twice.”
But he’s one happy man holding his two, large checks from the Michigan Lottery!
Now, 50-year-old Clark’s life has changed for the better. He has more time to focus on his all-time favorite hobby and gets to spend more time with loved ones.
“After the first win, I retired from my job and spent a lot of time fishing. My dad and I always used to fish together and have great memories of that, so this will help me keep fishing and enjoying time with my son and family.”
But the big wins didn’t happen just like that. Clark had to buy several scratch-offs and try and try again, until, eventually, he ended up with his first prize. Then later down the road, he won his second.
Clark definitely deserves both prizes. According to him, his life wasn’t always easy.
“I’ve had a lot of ups and a lot of downs in my life, but everything is pretty amazing right now. It’s hard to put into words exactly what I am feeling,” he said.
Now with $8 million to his name, I’m sure that things are definitely looking up for him! Now he can spend his retirement living it large.
