Woman Reunited With Lost Dog After She Noticed Her Pup’s Face On A Beer Can

Last week, we wrote a news article about the Bradenton, Florida brewery, Motorworks Brewing, and their unique way of helping dogs from local shelters get adopted. The microbrewery has been printing faces and facts about these potential adoptees onto their beer cans. As discussed in the previous article, Motorworks’s new tactic has so far helped two sheltered canines successfully find a forever home.

But recently, the Florida company accidentally (or perfectly on purpose?) helped a woman from Minnesota relocate her lost dog after not seeing her for three years. Dog owner Monica Mathis had no idea her pup was in the care of a shelter on the east coast until she spotted a familiar furry face on a beer can that was posted on Facebook.

“I was scrolling pretty much on Facebook and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh! That’s my dog!’” Monica explained. What a crazy way to find your lost pet!

Immediately, the Minnesota woman, who had lost her dog back when she was still living in Iowa, recognized her furry friend on the can who the shelter nicknamed “Day Day.” The canine’s real name is Hazel.

The third can below is Day Day, AKA Hazel.

As anyone would be who lost a pet, Monica was flabbergasted to see her long-lost friend printed on a Kölsch beer can! It was surreal, especially for a woman who was convinced that her canine was gone forever.

“I really thought she was gone, I never thought I’d see her again,” Monica said to a local news station. “I had a doubt, I was like ‘Oh my gosh, it looks like her, but is it really her?”

Situations like these certainly feel too good to be true.

“I was really nervous. I was like, shaking. I was crying. My husband was like ‘why are you crying?’ ‘Because I think this is my dog!’”

Right away, she phoned the Manatee County Animal Services and provided proof that the canine was once her dog. Monica explained that the information on her dog’s microchip was outdated and she had since moved to Minnesota.

Thanks to the non-profit organization, Friends of Manatee County Animal Services, Hazel will be shipped back to her rightful owner free of charge.

Like Monica, I know how it feels to lose a pet. When your critter runs away, you have a thought in the back of your head that tells you they’ll return home soon. However, as the days, weeks, months, and even years go by, you lose more hope. Luckily for Monica, she was able to eventually find her sweet canine after a long but worth-it three-year wait!
