Some Couples May Now Be Allowed To Be Legally Married Through A Video Call

As much as our focus should be on staying safe and healthy, we can’t help but worry about how different our lives have become as a result of the C*********s outbreak. I think by now, we’ve all realized that it’s the little things we miss the most: unplanned walks in the park, visits to a nearby movie theatre, or even a quick lunch on the patio of a local cafe.

Even romantic relationships have been greatly affected by the virus. Singles are no longer able to meet potential lovers in person. Couples have had to be creative in how they maintain they continue to have dates. Proposal plans have had to be changed. And worst of all: engaged couples have had to put a halt to the wedding they’ve been planning for years.

However, now thanks to New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, residents in the state can now be legally married through video-conferencing software, Zoom. That way, couples can still follow through with their big day without breaking social distancing orders.

“There is now no excuse when the question comes up for marriage. You can do it by Zoom,” the governor said on April 18, 2020, when he announced the option to have a #ZoomWedding.

Although the numbers of new cases of C*********s have been declining in the state of New York lately, Cuomo is encouraging residents to stay put at home except for essentials such as picking up food or going shopping for necessities. That said, the announcement Cuomo made regarding the Zoom wedding is an excellent idea for those who can’t wait to get married in the next so many weeks or months. There’s really no telling how much longer it could be.

Cuomo’s announcement has been made quite recently. However, 26-year-old Sophie Austin has already been married via Zoom. She has nothing but good things to say about it and would recommend it to other engaged couples wanting to tie the knot very soon.

“It was amazing. It was absolutely amazing. I think it really drew back the sparkliness and extra stuff of a wedding and made it really obvious what was important: the two of us saying the vows to each other. Even though we didn’t have everyone here, it made it more intimate and special,” she said.

It’s an interesting concept, and quite frankly, it seems like it would work for many couples!
