True talent knows no age, or race or location. It just chooses whoever, and whoever is willing to work on it, day in, day out and not give up. Whether you’re 12 or 50, it’s the passion behind the hard work that guides you.
This is Kadie Lynn, and she’s a 12-year-old from a teeny town one-hour east of Dallas, Texas; the town only has one stop light. From the moment she walks on stage to speak with the judges, you can tell she’s got presence and an old soul. She speaks with grace and confidence, and you can already feel she’s got a gift to share.
When Kadie was a baby, her parents adopted her in their 50s. And since then, they’ve lived for her, supporting her dreams and talent. She’s been singing ever since she was a baby and they’ve been driving her outside of her one horse town to churches and opries to help her practice her craft.
Now that she’s a preteen, she’s been given a chance to sing on the “America’s Got Talent” stage to see if she can make it big. Kadie chooses country legend Merle Haggard’s “Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Star,” – and the entire crowd can’t sit still in their seats. The moment she opens her mouth, she’s got everyone hanging on her every drawn out, country-twanged word! Her parents are crying, Simon has stars in his eyes, and the little girl is in the zone. It’s a stunning performance that’s got everyone excited.
Simon says, “When we make these shows it’s a bit like we’re mining for talent and you dig and you dig, and you dig, and every so often, you find a little diamond. And that’s who we found today with you.” Kadie is a diamond indeed.
