Dealing with emergencies can be incredibly scary, to say the least. However, the younger and less experienced you are, the less likely one is to know what to do when they have to quickly act in a dangerous situation. However, while just 8-years-old at the time, J.T. Parker was quickly able to save his father Stephen who was crushed by a 3,000- to 4,000-pound vehicle thanks to the help from who he believes were angels.
Before the young boy saved his father’s life, let’s backtrack a bit. So, Stephen, J.T., and Stephen’s brother, Mason (who at the time was 17-years-old) were working underneath a jack-up vehicle in their backyard, fixing an axle-related issue.
Shortly later, Mason cut himself and went inside to tend to his fresh wound. It was just Stephen, who was still under the car, and 8-year-old J.T. wandering around outside.
Then suddenly, something happened that no 8-year-old would ever be prepared for. The jack failed, dropping the car on top of J.T.’s father. There was no way he was able to escape, especially since the vehicle was crushing his lungs in the process.
Stephen didn’t see J.T. because he was on the other side of the vehicle. “I didn’t know if I should yell out to him because I didn’t want him to feel the pressure if he couldn’t jack it up. I didn’t want him to think it was his fault if I died,” Stephen said.
Then suddenly, Stephen decided to call out to his son, but by the time he called out, he no longer felt anxiety; he felt overwhelmed with peace as he began to believe it was “his time.”
J.T. began to jump up and down on the jack in an attempt to lift the car up, and to his surprise, it worked despite him only weighing 50 pounds! (Interestingly, it took both Stephen and 17-year-old Mason to jack up the car before they even began working on it.)
Both Stephen and J.T. believe angels had to do with the boy’s sudden strength, bravery, and calmness during the emergency. In fact, when he attempted to jack up the same vehicle later, J.T. was no longer able to do it.
“It made me realize that we are not alone. There is a higher power taking care of us and watching over us,” says Stephen.
Man, this story gave me so many chills!
