Ironically, sometimes it’s the introverted folks who are the most talented. For a shy, talented individual, coming out of their shell to show off their talent to the world may be distressing but even more distressing if they voluntarily want to share their talent deep down but struggle. In turn, others may not get the chance to experience a shy person’s immense talent, causing us to miss out on a great opportunity as well.
24-year-old tenor singer, Jonathan Antoine, would have been just a “regular man” if his friend and teacher never encouraged him to perform on “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2012. Shortly after the competition, in which he finished in second place, Jonathan earned himself a recording contract, and today he continues his successful career in music.
One of Jonathan’s most impressive performances to date was his rendition of ‘Unchained Melody’ at the Fred Kavli Theater in Thousand Oaks, California on September 15, 2018.
With slow music filling the air and blue lighting illuminating the stage, Jonathan stood tall and proud in a tux with his long, luscious, tightly-curled locks.
Just a few words into the song, the tenor already has the audience cheering. Every time Jonathan hits higher notes and his voice gets more intense, the crowd roars louder.
As the performance progresses, Jonathan’s dewy face proves just how much b***d, sweat and tears are put into each of his performances. The audience even throws roses at his feet toward the end of his rendition.
After he hits the final note, he receives a well-deserved standing ovation, and he flashes a toothy grin in response. For someone who seems so calm on stage, it’s difficult to imagine that the 24-year-old has dealt with stage fright!
Besides making his appearance on ‘Britain’s Got Talent,’ Jonathan has a lot he can thank for making him who is today. As a younger boy, Jonathan received singing lessons which would not only help him further develop his singing voice but also get him more comfortable with singing around others. He also won the Young Musician of the Year award at the 2010 Stratford and East London Music Festival and performed live at his vocal coach’s wedding with his friend Charlotte.
While surely the journey from a shy boy to a stunning star was difficult for Jonathan, there’s no doubt that his experiences shaped his career, and now he can enjoy where life has taken him today.
