Grandma Rips Through Stranger’s Wedding Gown And Later She’s In Tears

Even though it’s usually considered a tradition for the bride to keep her dress after the wedding, every bride does something different. Some might store their dress in a fancy bag or box in their closet as a keepsake while others might sell it, give it back to the store they rented it from, donate it to a woman who can’t afford a nice wedding dress, or even pass it onto their daughter or granddaughter for when they get married.

But, for many brides nowadays, turning their dress into something they can repurpose is more important to them. For instance, you may have heard of women turning their old wedding gowns into lingerie, a clutch, a pillow, or a piece of jewelry. Some may even place clippings of their dress in a shadow box or in a scrapbook.

However, for Jodi Boroff, she not only wanted her wedding dress to be worn by someone else but by multiple people. The only catch: These people wouldn’t be getting married in her dress.

After sending off her dress to Sandi Fasano of Angel Gowns by Connie in Colorado, the woman sliced the dress into several pieces, but these pieces would not be going to waste, that’s for sure; over a dozen angel gowns were created with the material.

For those who are unaware of what angel gowns are, these are beautiful dresses that are designed to be worn by babies who pass away before, during, or shortly after childbirth. Placing an angel gown on an angel baby is a way to respect and cherish the child and their unfortunate passing.

“…I’ll be donating [the dresses] to the NICU at Vanderbilt. Seventeen little gowns were made from my dress, and as beautiful as they are, I pray they are never needed,” Jodi said.

Sandi, who did the honor of turning Jodi’s wedding dress into the tiny gowns, admits to Denver 7 that cutting into people’s donated wedding dresses is sometimes difficult. However, what Sandi turns these dresses into is a huge blessing for grieving family members.

“The last thing a family needs to do is go to a toy store and find doll clothes.”
