In 2015, Jennifer Lopez made everybody’s mouths drop on the American Idol stage. While her singing was incredible, and not anything that should be ignored, it’s her dress that left everyone in awe.
Maybe you missed this performance and the amazing dress that we’re talking about, so we wanted to bring it to your attention. We wouldn’t want you to miss this! (Or, maybe you did watch it, but you want to give it another listen and look!)
So, let’s talk about the performance. In the video down below, Jennifer stands on the American Idol stage in the dark, minus two small spotlights behind her. She’s singing “Feel the Light” from the movie “Home.” A piano begins, and she hums as the camera zooms into her face.
She smiles as she hums, and then she starts to sing. The camera gives us a full view of her, and she’s wearing a long white dress with the straps around her biceps rather than her shoulders. It stretches into a big perfect circle on the floor.
The plain white dress is beautiful but just wait until you see what happens. As she sings to the music the camera zooms out, and suddenly, the dress starts to change.
The change starts from the bottom and goes up. It looks like it’s turning into a dark sky filled with stars. Yes, you read that correctly. It turns out that she’s not wearing a regular dress, she’s wearing a dress that has become a part of a light show. It doesn’t end there because the dress starts turning into a purple-blue, and now the stars are moving, traveling in the sky, and Jennifer’s singing only adds on to the magical experience.
Then it gets even better! The drums start, and the dress begins to change quickly. You have circles, stars, and other patterns circling on the dress. What you’re getting is an entire galaxy.
And, just some background, if you’ve never seen “Home,” it’s about an alien. So, that’s why we get lights that represent the galaxy.
The camera then shows us a point of view from the top, and the dress starts to show scenes from “Home.” It continues to change colors, and you can’t look away!
