Those who think animals don’t understand English or recognize the tone in our voice are wrong. We’ve all seen videos of pups getting verbally scolded for tearing up the couch cushions or breaking an expensive vase. These dogs are aware of their actions and what they’re getting in trouble for; their whimpering and sad eyes prove that our lectures are not a waste of breath.
Sneaker-stealer, Azlan the husky, had no idea her mom would discover her crime. Fortunately, Mom pulled out the camera to film before confronting the suspect regarding the missing shoe.
As her owner speaks to her, the dog glances down at the other shoe, clearly understanding what the owner is referring to. Yes, Azlan, you know exactly what Mom is talking about!
At the beginning of the video, one may think Azlan is just another dog receiving a lecture, responding with puppy eyes, howls, and a perfect pose to beg for forgiveness from her owner. Haven’t we all seen this very act before? But then there’s a plot twist.
Azlan’s guilt brings her to fess up to her misconduct after her owner requests her to retrieve the stolen tennis shoe and bring it to her. We watch the video as the pooch walks out of the room only to return a brief moment later with the missing shoe Mom has been waiting for all this time!
After the retrieval, the husky appears proud yet still a little guilty as she stands close to her owner waiting for her approval. One can imagine her asking, “You still love me, right?” I think Azlan learned her lesson, don’t you? Well, at least for now.
