It’s impossible to hear Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” and not be reminded of the epic love story it symbolizes. Even if you’ve never heard it before, never seen “Titanic,” or have yet to fall in love, its lyrics, melody and musical build up are so filled with love, it’s undeniable. Anyone (Celine included) who has ever sung this song or performed to it will know just how emotionally charged it is.
This is precisely what we see in the routine put on by dynamic husband and wife duo, Chris Knierim and Alexa Scimeca. They ooze adoration and compatibility for one another, giving this dance on ice a whole new level of wow.
Alexa and Chris have brought their real-life love story on to the ice. Their affection for one another is evident in how they gracefully glide across the film of frozen water. They start close and snug before separating and moving across the rink in unison. Chris effortlessly spins his wife horizontally over his head, not missing a beat as he catches her and tenderly places her back on her feet. The ultimate trust and companionship between the two are very apparent.
They carry on their routine with extra lifts, and arm raises for drama, never losing each other’s gaze. Their hand-holding, embraces and overall closeness are the factors that make this choreography a little different than other performances. Their bond adds to the intimacy of their skating. That plus their talent and skill make Chris and Alexa’s performance sizzle.
