While it’s hard to pinpoint exactly who is responsible for starting the first responders lip-sync challenge, seems to me like they’re spreading like wildfire, pun intended! It’s going around fast and both police officers and firefighters are rising up to the occasion to show off their dance moves and prove that when they’re off duty, they can have a little fun! Ok, a lot of fun!
This is the firefighting crew from Greenville, Texas, USA, and they’re bringing all they’ve got in this action-packed, four-part video that has these guys showing you how they run things. From the fire hall to being onsite, the Greenville Fire Department has accepted the challenge, and upped the ante!
The video opens and we are invited in for a little tour! The first firefighter host welcomes us into the fire hall lounge, to the tune of Flo Rida’s “My House.” There are some guys sleeping on big comfy lazy boys, surely after a long night putting out fires, while there’s one or two milling around in the kitchen, drinking a Gatorade and making something to eat. All shot in one go, the camera doesn’t leave our host until we’re panned over into the gym where more off-duty fighters are working on their fitness!
The host jumps onto the back of a truck, and the music changes to L*****s “S**y and I Know It.” This is the “centerfold” scene where a bunch of guys dismount from the rescue truck that rolls onscreen. They start to jump around in the water that’s shooting out of a nearby fire hydrant, dancing like nobody’s watching – but we are! Everyone is watching and loving their energy and good vibes! These firefighters are letting loose and cooling down in the day’s heat for a really refreshing scene.
Next up is Kenny Loggin’s “Danger Zone” from “Top Gun,” and a new crew of guys is at the scene of a burnt down house, sifting through the rubble, and singing into axes. One guy is even playing a little axe air guitar while the other accompanies him on the axe air bass! This is the serious, get-down-to-business scene where everyone seems pre-occupied. But, not for long, because in the final part that wraps up the whole challenge, John Cougar Mellencamp’s “Pink Houses” says it best, “…ain’t that America…” the camera panning over the flag and the battalion chief getting in a bit of lip synching. Well done, crew! Another lip sync challenge for the books.
