When was the last time you did something you were scared of? Getting out of your comfort zone and doing something that scares you every day is a good practice to have. Life is too short to play it safe and within the confines of what feels familiar. You gotta shake it up every now and again, no matter what age you are. And guess what? It’s never too late to push your boundaries and discover something new about yourself.
This 80-year-old grandma is living her best life, trying out new things and loving every second of it. Most likely at the insistence of her granddaughter, today, grandma decided to do something daring!
Grandma and grandpa went to the waterpark on a hot summer day with their granddaughter, when the youngest of the trio had an idea. Rather than just dipping a toe in the pool or wading in waist-deep to cool off, she and her grandma climbed to the top of the water slide where there’s only one way down!
With a little pep talk before taking off, grandma is seated in the loading dock ready to go. But, not before she’s given a GoPro to capture all the fun. Her granddaughter sets her up, as she sits down before take off – with no hands! She’s yelling “Weeeeee!” picking up speed as she slides down fast. She’s one with the rushing water, and you can see on her face how excited she is. It’s contagious. Her thrill and delight are obvious, paired with a bit of nerve. But, she handles herself well! I don’t think I would be able to, I’m really scared!
Everything is caught on camera, the perfect addition to taking on this thrill ride. She’s cheering the whole time, not a moment wasted on fear or second thoughts. Just as she’s about to make it to the end, she starts to say, “Here I…” but then gets a mouthful of water and ends up totally in the water. She’s a little waterlogged only for a moment before saying, “Oh God, it was fun!” Her granddaughter asks how it went, to which she replies, shocked, “It was sooo fast!” She loved every second of it, I bet she did it again right after!
